Warren World!

NEWS:

July 3, 2011
Announcement: Effective January 1, 2011, Warren World, Inc. is dissolved and is no longer functioning. The operation of Warren World (especially leading up to, during, and after a fund-raising event) is a massive undertaking that is mostly shouldered by our president and founder, Marian Henderson. Marian has unfortunately developed health issues that will prevent her from running Warren World (WW) in a way that she sees fit.

We are all saddened to close the doors of an organization which has strived to help local children and their families in times of financial crisis related to a child's serious illness. While we were often not able to provide as much help as we wished, we hope we eased at least some of the great financial burdens that occur at such times.

The numbers from the last fund-raising event, in May 2010, were not posted. We would like to post those now. Thanks to you, we raised $850.00 EACH for Nick Bowen and James Strong and their families. While not as much as we've raised in past events, we feel any help is good help. The weather was probably an influencing factor and we would like to thank those who braved the torrential thunderstorms to attend and participate in this event. Special thank you to Kenny McDowell for his hard work, dedication, love for Warren World and Warren himself.

To all of those who have participated in past WW events, we extend our deep-felt thanks. We could not have done any of it without you...the bands, artists, volunteers, donators (of food/beverages, money, items for auction, equipment and etc.), and sponsors.

All of the children and their families who we've tried to help over the years will forever remain in our hearts.

Sincerely,
Warren World Board of Directors

A message from Marian Henderson, President of Warren World, Inc.:

Courtney Grammer has offered up MORE items for the Silent Auction, and Dave Manning has offered up more great collectables!

I just finished a radio interview with WJBB, 92.7 (Haleyville, AL) and Pastor CR Hood challenged all pastors of the churches in their listening area to take up donations for this event!

Also, Highland Golf is once again giving us 2 Rounds of Golf with cart for silent auction. The Golf Pro there, Wayne Flint, is a friend and is once again giving away a free golf lesson at Highland. It has been a rough year financially, but they are committed to the cause.

Rain or Shine this is going to be a great event!

Thanks to everyone who has helped and to those that have already donated!

We have another child that needs our help...

Eight year-old James Strong is suffering from Hydrocephalus and Cerebral Palsy. During his short life, he has had 19 surgeries on his brain to relieve the fluid surrounding the fragile brain tissue, by having shunts inserted. His mother, Kim Mitchell, is a single mother and works as a Special Education Teacher with the Fairfield City School System. She is currently fighting cancer herself while caring for her son. Due to problems with the shunts, James has had up to three surgeries in one week and months long stays in the hospital.

Please do what you can to help Nick and James! There are many ways you can help these children besides donating money. You can donate time by volunteering to help during the 2-day event on May 28th & 29th, you can donate items for the silent auction, spread the word about Warren World and the Memorial Day weekend event and more! Check out our How To Help page for more details or contact Marian Henderson at marian@warrenworld.org.
